Give a Gift to the Environment: Support Ecological Education!

Your Donation Will Create Gardens, Reduce Energy Consumption and Introduce Sustainable Planning into Communities Around the World.

The Green Apprenticeship (GA) program utilizes a synthesis of ecological theory and practice to train young adults to understand and create alternative solutions for the issues facing the modern world. The course attracts participants who are interested in learning and passing on the values of local and organic food production, conservation, recycling, alternative construction, permaculture and their connection to contemporary living. The program generates a cadre of dedicated and knowledgeable environmental leaders in their present and future communities, who are committed to living more sustainably. Green Apprenticeship alumni take the knowledge they learn and apply it to all endeavors, as the information helps develop a way of approaching systems in any field.

Other than formal academic programs, there is a lack of options for practical training programs that include system design for both “everyday” use and environmental activism. Young Israeli leaders need skills to effect real environmental change in their communities. Additionally, the Green Apprenticeship greatly interests students from around the world who are looking to deepen a physical connection with the land. Cultivating this connection in a communal and ecologically conscious setting, while acquiring the knowledge and recognition of a permaculture design certificate, creates an invaluable and unique experience. Further layers of enrichment and appeal are added by the opportunity to live in our prototype EcoCampus and the mentorship and support provided by our accomplished staff.

“I feel that I was given a great privilege to participate in the Green Apprenticeship program on Kibbutz Lotan and it is important to me to express my thanks and appreciation to the people who enabled me to attend this amazing, life changing experience. The program is one of a kind. The subjects taught through out the course are of vital essence to every human being who breathes on this earth, regardless of gender and religion.”
   --- Jonathan, Israel

“I couldn’t define my malaise with what was going on around me until the Green Apprenticeship provided a context of understanding, and ultimately, a new approach. I can now identify what I see as the problems of today, but more importantly, I can see solutions. Learning to grow food from scratch was one of the most striking aspects of the course, yet it should be common knowledge, taught to children everywhere.

Being in the setting of the Arava Desert is also a significant benefit, as not only do we learn essential ecological principles and practices, but we get to be participants in a living model which puts them to use in a unforgiving climate. This opportunity has certainly impacted the values I uphold and the future of my work and I am forever thankful.”     --- Stephanie, New York

We, along with our students, are extremely grateful for past support for GA scholarships from individual donors, Yes to Carrots Seed Fund, Hazon, Kibbutz Representatives Charitable Foundation, and ARZA Canada.

Expanding our scholarship fund will allow us to increase our impact. Your assistance will give more students the gift of eco-education and affect positive change throughout the world!
